JUNE 16, 2011 MELANCTHON AGENDA

This should scare the hell out of every single person who is trying to oppose the aggregate application applied for by Highland Companies-you know the one, on thousands of acres of prime agricultural land, 200 feet below the water table, that proposes to put 7,200 trucks a day on County Road 124 in prime conditions.

The past Council and THIS Council has assured us they are doing everything they can to respond appropriately to the application.

And yet on the June 16 Council agenda, Council's solicitor is writing to Highlands solicitor with the statement: "However, due to a number of unforseen logistical ciumstances, the Township has been delayed in retaining all of the experts with respect to the peer review team, although we now believe we are in a position to proceed."

For fucks sake.

This Council has had six months to ensure they were prepared for THE most important issue in their municipality.

Four out of the five members of THIS Council was on the last Council and THEY had years and years to ensure the ratepayers were protected by getting their TEAM in place.

The only explanation I could come up with as to why the peer reviewers are not already in place is someone has threatened to sue the township over a conflict of interest in their choice of experts, but then I could be wrong.

The only hope everyone has of opposing and winning this is in the various individuals and grassroots organizations fighting AND paying for this.

Who needs experts!? Just write another little, one page objection letter to the MNR...that ought to hold off Highlands. If it wasn't such a THREAT TO THE VERY FIBRE OF OUR EXISTENCE it would be hilarious. 2006. That is the year that a concerned Melancthon resident, and an expert in the field of engineering, first told Melancthon Council to line up their "experts" and ask for an Environmental Accessment.

Did I just say Environmental Accessment....I meant Assessment...with spelling like that I could get elected!

How could other agencies get comments submitted within 45 days (Suzuki, Grand and Nottawasaga Conservation Authorities, Town of Caledon, etc. etc.) but Melancthon couldn't?

Expectations for Melancthon Council......lower them. During her term as Mayor of Melancthon, Debbie Fawcett, sold her farm to Highland. Am I the only one who thinks there is a problem here? Of course Debbie Fawcett took the precaution of giving the farm to her son first, who within a matter of weeks sold it to Highland. Is anyone buying that little tap dance? Melancthon Council does not have the resources on any level to deal with this cancerous corporation, they're completely out of their depth, yet another reason why Highland selected this sight, no doubt.

Debbie Fawcett was strutting around at the Hornings Mills Heritage day last weekend. How ironic......Debbie Fawcett organizes Heritage day in Melancthon. What kind of heritage has she bestowed upon the township of Melancthon by sucking on the HIghland teet?

Perhaps the Mayor thought that by not having peer reviewers in place he could slow down the process. Stall as it were. Sure it makes him look like a bumbling fool, but it does slow things down.

It won't slow anything down. There is a process to follow whether council acts with competence or not.
