November 11

My grandfather and uncle fought for the right to free speech for all Canadians and the free world.

Canadians should NOT be intimidated from speaking their views at a meeting of Council or in the paper. They should NOT feel afraid because they are standing up for what they feel is good and right.

Remember, if you don't stand for something you will fall for anything.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below
We are the dead
Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields
Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 - 1918)

  1. My step-grandfather and uncle also both fought in the war. My husbands grandfather lost an arm in the first world war.

    You are right.

People please speak out, even if you are in favour of the mine, our community should not be divided because of John Lowndes.
