CAO & DEPARTMENT HEAD RECRUITMENT – DISCUSSION (referred from Council April 14, 2011)
The Committee discussed the CAO and Department Head Recruitment Process and made suggestions for changes to the policy regarding the short-listing process, interviews and final candidate selection.
Moved by Councillor Campbell Moon, seconded by Councillor Bennington
THAT staff be directed to incorporate draft changes as discussed regarding the hiring policy and report back to the next General Government Services Committee.

You know what this means? County Council members felt the process was either not fair, OR transparent or didn't work.
In fact I heard through the grapevine that the outgoing CAO sat in on the interviews. Seriously how inappropriate is that? Of course it isn't out of character for her, she wanted to control the show to the very end.
I have it on good authority that it is the "not fair" selection. The decision was made by only a few people. Look at who is on General Government Services and where the new CAO comes from. Look further and see how much experience she has at this high level....none....and you know there were other applicants that had high level experience. You do the math........
ReplyDeleteLast time I checked the CEO did not have a vote! And how do you know who the applicants are unless you were in attendance or privy to the interview process?
ReplyDeleteAnd how would the CAO NOT have a conflict? She had been in the field for years so who would have applied that she wouldn't have known in a personal or professional capacity? Didn't matter though did it? SHE used to work in Orangeville with Robbing Adams and Maycock and the new CAO was hired from Orangeville with NO CAO experience what so ever.
