But who is Mike Coates?
At the bottom of the article it states: Mike Coates is the president and CEO of Hill & Knowlton Canada.
You know, that PR firm that was hired by Highlands aka Baupost Group aka Seth Klarman to part the waters on their 2,300 acre 200 foot below the water table open pit limestone mine fiasco.
Wonder who got him for the piece/ owns Canadian Business magazine.
ReplyDeleteRogers owns CanadianBusiness.com. For me, this mega quarry has taken the lid off a putrid vat of disease... corporate and government disease. What is happening to this country is beyond belief. One of the first things I learnt in Economics class was... monopolies are not good for the economy or society, yet, the system that now exists in North America is completely controlled by them. Harper is the worst thing that has happened to this country, worse than Mulroney, who would have thought that would ever be possible. This whole disgusting mess smacks of fascism and this mega quarry madness is a symptom of a much greater ill.
ReplyDeleteHere's a line out of an article about Harper's feds' "plans for the future"....
ReplyDelete"The rules need to be changed so that policy can steamroll over public input at a much faster rate."
It was written in response to the pipeline fiasco, but it has terrifying consequences for ALL of us who want to protect the environment. If the Canadian people EVER needed to rise-up and make their voices heard over the sound of big business "steamrolling over public input" (at the expense of the mess we will leave our grandchildren)...it is NOW.
And John Tory, he of failed conservative political ambitions, now a commentator on CFRB is on the Board at Rogers and also a childhood buddy buddy of Daniher, recently departed mouthpiece for Highlands and CFRB is one of the only major news outlets in Toronto who hasn't covered the Mega Quarry issue. Connect the dots indeed.
ReplyDeleteit's positively incestuous!
