PUSLINCH RESIDENTS BLOCK GRAVEL PIT
A group of residents have successfully blocked a gravel company from moving into their rural neighbourhood.
The Ontario Municipal Board this week ruled against aggregate giant Capital Paving, which had sought permission to establish a gravel pit off Downey Road just beyond Guelph’s southern limits.

The group opposing the pit, the Cranberry Area Residents and Ratepayers Association, grew from an informal residents’ group five years ago to fight the proposal. Capital had sought approval to remove 1.25 million tonnes of gravel from the 51-hectare site.
