Peter Kent says no Federal EA is necessary because federal EA`s are not required unless: feds are providing funds; transferring federal lands OR issuing an authority identified in the Acts law list regulations.

Law list regulations that I think might have some relevance:
Ammonium Nitrate

Explosives
http://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/E-17/
Fisheries Act
http://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/F-14/page-7.html#h-10
Indian Act
http://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/I-5/
Railway Safety Act
http://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/R-4.2/
Regulation: Mining Near Lines of Railway

But then what do I know?
Sounds like Mr. Kent needs to receive some letters. AVAAZ perhaps?
ReplyDeleteBetter straighten him out then and make sure David Tilson and other MPs who recognise the threat to the potable water supply caused by contaminate such as Ammonium Nitrate and Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil. Maybe just to help him understand offer to drop some in his beverage of choice.
ReplyDeleteHe's less than impressive in this file and a bit of a toady.
On the bright side.....the Provincial Government also started by saying that an EA was'nt needed. A little pressure goes a long way.
