And I can guarantee that 28,000 people went home happy, with full stomachs, and ready to take on Highlands and the mega disaster. What an AMAZING day it was.....
Just wondering though....How many of our elected officials (especially Melancthon) turned up at this truly historic event? Any sightings to report? (I know you were there Nanci)
It was a brilliant event, a huge success on so many levels. As for our elected officials, well let's ask them, I will be contacting Paul Mills tomorrow to find out. If he and his fellow councilors and those of neighbouring municipalities didn't attend we can let them know how disappointed we are. Bravo Nanci Malek you are a wonder and all of Melancthon township and the rest of us should recognize her tireless efforts. Thanks to all the talent both culinary and musical. Thanks to all the passionate volunteers who worked so hard in such bleak weather conditions. Thanks to all the growers who donated food. Thanks to all the people who travelled considerable distances to support this vital event. This battle is about many things, mainly it's about the water, together we will fight to the bitter end to protect it and Foodstock was a testament to that.
My family and I echo those sentiments. It was amazing, I don't believe I've ever seen such a turnout in this area before. Somehow we must keep up the support. Which of the 'local' politicians showed up apart from Nanci.
Not sure which ones show up, honestly it was too crowded freaking McGuinty coulda been there and you woulda missed him, but I will bet everything I own who wasn't there? Crewson, Adams and our Warden Maycock. AND Mulmur aka Paul Mills Mayor, provided tables for the chefs. I am not sure what the arrangement was, but even if they were rented, two years ago every single municipality went screaming from everything NDACT or anyone to stop the quarry did.
Was the press in attendance yesterday at Foodstock? ......28,000 in attendance WOW! If everyone in attendance spoke to 10 people about the day and the experience of support for "Stop the Quarry" there would be a block of support no-one could ignore. Let's Rise Up Repeatedly! Keep the message fresh!.......Peace and Progress!
I was a volunteer at the north registration all day and did not see one politician. I heard Nanci Malek & Sylvia Jones were there, however thanks to all who came to support the cause. It was an amazing day.

ReplyDelete1:33 - just for your info Nanci was one of the Foodstock organizers. Mayor Mills, Sylvia, Tilson, Deputy Mayor White, all were there.
ReplyDeleteCouncillor Malek was slugging her ass off before during and after, wallowing in the mud with the rest of the volunteers. Much appreciated.
