WHO DO YOU TRUST?

Globe and Mail article today, October 15, 2011, has the following quote:   Joseph Izhakoff, another principal, (sic of Highlands) told The Globe and Mail the company did not mislead landowners.   “We did exactly what we told people we were going to do,” he said, referring to the potato operation. “When we came to Melancthon … we knew there was aggregate, but just knowing there’s aggregate doesn’t mean you’re going to be able to develop a quarry,” he said.   (Click here for full article: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/toronto/globe-to/foodstock-back-to-the-farm-but-with-knives-in-hand/article2201954/

AND there was this quote by a Highland representatives in 2007:  “Trevor Downey of Downey Farms and John Lowndes both say the intent in Melancthon is merely to have a world-class potato operation.” (Orangeville Citizen, June 27, 2007) Click for full article: http://www.citizen.on.ca/news/2007/0607/local_news/011.html

And yet an individual at the public meeting held in January 2009 at which the grassroots movement, now known as NDACT, was formed advised the crowd, despite Highlands spokesperson's denials, that the MOE, MMAH and the MNR had all been approached by Highlands regarding a quarry application and in fact one Ministry had designated staff just for the application as it was to be of a size never before seen in Ontario.

Anyone left who believes anything out of their mouths?

  1. No I don't believe anything these gangsters are saying Their track record of lies and deception is long and entrenched in their modus operandi, to the point where it seems they almost believe their own lies. Therefore, they have proven themselves to be pathological liars. So, at this point it's a question of anticipation regarding the rest of their sordid plot. My belief is that there is a connection between the rail bed, Highland are attempting to purchase from that patsy in Orangeville, otherwise known as the mayor, and our headwaters. I anticipate that once Highland is granted a permit, and they will do and say anything to get it, they will divert the 600 million litres of water, daily, not back into the aquifer, rather, they will pipe it out along the rail bed and off to never never land. The biggest kick in the ass is that chapter 11 of the Nafta agreement, thanks very much Molroney, grants complete water rights, without consequence to American companies. This privilege does not apply to Canadian companies. In other words, Highland will be able to do anything they want with the water that runs on their land, they can even pollute it and it's all legel. This is a multi layer lie, first it's potatoes, then it's aggregate, then it's the water and they will be happy to take the lot if our government is stupid and or corrupt enough to let them. Wagers anyone?
It's time for some new policy from our elected officials, before it's too late.
On the other hand it's a lovely morning for foodstock and we are steadfast in our mission to stop this atrocity.
