GLOBE AND MAIL

"Unlike previous conflicts over quarries that tended to remain largely local schisms, the Melancthon battle has reverberated far and wide. The effort to stop the massive pit has united farmers and urbanites, renowned Toronto chefs and aboriginals, environmentalists and affluent entrepreneurs. Michael Wilson, a former federal Conservative cabinet minster and one-time Canadian ambassador to the United States, is also voicing concern."

  1. This article is one sided and presents the quarry opposition as just another show NIMBY-ism.
I have no doubt that Hill and Knowlton had a hand in the publication of this piece, and if the Globe didn't have an obvious bias, it would present a bit more of the truth, especially when it comes to the issue of the water. But the Globe and Mail is NOT our friend, and unless we're willing to pour lots of money into the hands of hungry journalists who will write whatever they're paid to write, we're gonna be at a disadvantage.....
