The sad reality is that this land was NEVER safe as long as it remained in the hands of Highland. And they will NOT leave Melancthon without giving us more grief, even if it means selling it to another huge corporation who couldn't care less about its agricultural value. Our fight is not yet over....

I took the picture in question last Friday (July 7th 2013) and I saw the rigs sitting on the driveway the day after as well. It's been suggested that since potatoes need so much water that potentially these rigs could be used for drilling water for irrigation. My concern is that the Highland Companies own an irrigation pond (about 2 acres in size) 2 kms away on 20 Side Road Melancthon, the water being piped to their fields. This spring and summer have been the wettest that I can remember in years so why the urgency for water?
    Or is it ... ?

For God's sake, don't say the "F" word ... that makes mining for aggregate look GOOD.

    Maybe you people are paranoid.

Perhaps the existing well failed and they needed to replace it.

    Just a thought.

Highland lied and deceived from the start, hired the notorious Hill and Knowlton to spin their lies, and made it well-known that they were hungry for the valuable limestone that lies under this soil, to hell with the future of our land and water. I don't think we are "paranoid" to be wary and fearful when drilling trucks pull up on Highland's land. I'd say we'd have to be pretty damn naive NOT to question their motives....

Why do you have experience with Fracking?

Love the rumors on here, give me a daily laugh or 2,3,4....
