"News from the Standing Committee on General Government courtesy of Donna B who has been following the review of the Aggregate Resources Act.
After holding public hearings in Toronto, Orangeville and Kitchener, the all-party committee travels next week to Ottawa and Sudbury for the final two days of extended hearings.
Well, two days is an exaggeration.
As you'll see in the agendas below, the MPPs will sit from 3pm- 4:15pm in Ottawa on Monday and 4pm - 5:30pm in Sudbury on Tuesday.
It's not yet known if the other 14 hours of their working days will include more guided tours of aggregate sites.
We already know how they feel about visiting prime farmland slated to become quarries. "
"The hearings are open to the public, so if you've got friends/family in either Ottawa or Sudbury who can attend on Monday or Tuesday, please urge them to do so. Ask them to take notes to share with us.
Meanwhile, you can still have your say. Any written submissions to the Committee are due by 5pm on Tues. 17-Jul-2012 and can be sent by mail, fax or e-mail. We encourage you to send written submissions to the Committee!
